We’ve had a break in…

by 18

The Singletrack office was broken into this morning 🙁

Thanks to the speedy response of West Yorkshire Police the thieving scumbags scarpered mid-theft but got away with four bikes. Keep your eyes peeled for a Cotic Rocket, Orange Five Pro, Santa Cruz Nickel and Lapierre XR 529.

(Edit – we found the Nukeproof Mega, it’s safe and sound out on the trails with a staffer 😉 We’ve also found Sim’s Kona hiding in a corner.)

Detailed specs, sizes and colours of the bikes are listed below, so take a look and keep an eye out for any components that are of dubious lineage.

Some of the bikes have been tweaked to reflect our personal preferences, which should make them very distinctive – pink pedals and 800mm bars, anyone?

If you have any information then please contact Singletrack – newsdesk@singletrackworld.com or 01706 813344.

Alternatively you can get in touch with West Yorkshire Police directly by calling Halifax CID Office – 01422 337087. Any info to DC 4497 Drabble.

    **** ***** ***** *****

How long before we can get the law to protect the victim and not the criminal??

It’s FAR to easy for theiving scum to life a good life without putting in any effort at all. ;-(

Really sorry to hear that, having just got back from 2 weeks in Northumberland I was glad to see the garage intact.
Had a bike stolen years ago and it still really gets to me.

Bad news, hopefully the Nickel will be easy to spot as I think I’ve got the only other one :-/

My eyes are peeled. Timely reminder for us all to review security. Off to see what the forum and old singletrack mags recommend.

Hope you get over it. Must be devastating.

Theres a canal near STW towers, would you like some large sacks and some bricks for when you find the perps? Good look getting the bikes back.

As an additional piece of information, with the Rocket being such a new product there’s only 14 orange coloured mediums in circulation and only 25 orange coloured Rockets across all sizes sold so far. It’s a rare bike, so if you see one with this spec (especially the Bontrager finishing kit which isn’t that usual either) then it’s going to be the stolen bike.

I’d also like to say thanks to the Police and Chipps for getting their so quick and to the ST staff who had most of their Saturday wasted trying to sort this out. Rubbish thing to happen.

Such a shame, good luck to you ST.

Hope you get the bikes back and catch the thieving c****

    Galling.
Actually not the smartest tea leaves – none of those bikes are common – should stick out like sore thumbs?
Here’s hoping they return and the perps are caught.

Hope you get them back guys, public floggings should be brought back for bike thieves!

I know your anger well. We just got back from a 2 week holiday to find our house had bene burgled. Utter bar-stewards.

    Thanks Geoffi.

I’m very pleased to see that we can describe “Scum” as “Scum” now.

I’d just like to say that the people who did this to you are “Scum”.

    Officer Drabble!

    I like that. Top Cat!

I am very sorry to hear of your troubles I will keep eye out whilst out on the trails, but please as a local of Todmorden and one of the 14 who have got an orange medium Cotic Rocket please don’t pounce on me whilst riding the Calderdale trails for bike rustling, mine has Rockshox forks and no Bontranger fitted at all. Hope the police catch the thieves and the bikes are returned but statistics are against this.

Maxtorque: “How long before we can get the law to protect the victim and not the criminal??”
Timely change in law allowing extreme violence to be served to the burglers if it is in the heat of the moment –
Ken Clarke says “We will make it quite clear you can hit the burglar with the poker if he’s in the house and you have a perfect defence when you do so.” I say get a bat and wait for the next scumbag who tries to break in.
