its the version off the live at massey hall concert recordings, it sounds like he re tunes the guitar before hand to some open tuning, (he even does a little run through arpeggio of the strings beforehand) but i still cant do it.... grrrrrrr

whats the tuning and chords

anyone?

searched youtube, various tab sites all they give you is the standard chords......

There are a fair few of us on here who have benefited through the scheme, but I reckon you'd be hard pressed to find someone who agreed that the system was either fair or could not be improved.

On the plus side, there are more bikes in circulation and probably more bikes riding them as a result of the scheme.

On the downside, the 40% tax payers get most benefit (again), and there is the potential for the higher demand to push up the price of some bikes in some price ranges.

So what would should be changed?

1. I'd restrict the savings to the equivalent of basic rate tax + vat;
2. Limit the ability to buy bikes which are not suited to communting (unless a good reason can be provided) e.g. full sus MTB bikes; and
3. Remove VAT from all bikes to everyone;

Whaddya think?

In no particular order:

- Robin
- Wren
- Bluetit

The wren amuses me as its noise : size ratio is incredible. Loud as **** in song yet tiny tidgy weeny in size.

despite the fact i'm very happy with my GF i sometimes can't help letting my mind wander - as is currently the case.

i met some girl from san fran. last year and used to go out for a few drinks in the evening whilst on a course we were doing. we both really hit it off and made each other laugh (dark sense of humour) and just generally enjoyed each others company.

she's been away over winter, but we have stayed in email contact. she said often that we didn't see enough of each other whilst she was here (live in different towns 3 hours apart). thing is she's back and has sent me a few emails asking me to go out for a drink or two with her.

i get a cheeky tingle in me loins and i half-think the feeling is mutual as she keeps badgering me to go out with her (despite the fact she moved over here for her BF and they now have a house together - he is quite straight-laced, but a good guy).

not that i feel anything will/would ever happen between us... but still.

thought it best to get it off my chest here than with the GF....

Is it just me or are those who working in Social Services completely useless?

How many times do we have to be told...
we've learnt from our mistakes and procedures are now in place that would prevent this from ever happening again
.

I look at Social Services and wonder just who is being recruited and what they think they're doing. How many more cases making headline news will it take for something quite drastic to change this profession? I note also that no one is being sacked, no one is carrying the can, no one is being held responsible.

Bit bored at the moment and fancy trying something different.

Always been a whisky drinker, other than the occasional G&T or a Rum and coke (Yeah I know).

I used to like the peaty whiskies, but of late prefer smoother like Macalan, Glenmorangie, Old Pultney. When it comes to beer things like Waggledance, London Pride, Spitfire hit the mark. So that gives you an idea of my taste buds.

So any suggestions? Cognac, Brandy, something else? Just try some other Whiskies?

I may have to live in Scotland for an extended period of time with work, perhaps perm. The job is mobile but is mainly in the central areas from kilmarnock up as far as Dundee. Where would be a recommended area to start looking for rental houses with a view to buying if things work out. I would prefer to live outside of the large cities but be close to a decent sized town at the same time.

Possibly going to be spending a week or so near Stornoway, so was wondering:
- when's the best time to go (weatherwise)
- what is there to do
- is it worth taking MTBs
- is it worth taking surfboards

Cheers

i've been doing some extensive research into the colour black, my overwhelming conclusion is that black is in fact black.

however, no research would be complete without consulting the collective brain power of the stw masses. i have noticed that even the simplest, most straight forward factual detail can be proved incorrect by an stw expert, so come on, is black black?

I the process of looking at starting up my own business any advice from those who have done it. Here’s a bit of background to my plans, and what I know so far

Looking to set up as a I.T Business analysis contractor.I'll be setting up as a Ltd company, and paying my self a wage (not to low as I want to get mortgages etc)I will be VAT registered (because I want to and hope that I will have to). Will be looking for jobs through I.T recruitment firms, and plan on securing at least a 6 month contract before leaving my current job. Also plan on getting some relevant training courses. bu plann on doing this after the company is set up so I dont pay the VAT. What other things do I need to look at . The obvious ones to me are.

Accountant.
Companies house registation for Ltd company, and putting all the relevant hierarchy in place.
Do I need public liability insurance.
Bank Account (got 2 years free banking promised to me already)
also Can I get a set up grant to pay for Laptops ect?

Any advice would be appreciated.

How do you guys cope? I've had just about the 3 worst months in my job I can remember... & it's mostly due to management setting unrealistic deadlines & then moaning like hell when standards might slip due the stress they are putting me under.. I get poor to non existent briefs no communication & am at a complete loss on what to do to improve things.

So every morning I wake up with quite a pain in my lower back on the left hand side. Sort of in the kidney region but it's a bit closer to my side than I would think. It makes it very difficult to lie in most positions and forces me to get up. When I do, it goes away in ten minutes or so and I don't feel it the rest of the day. It comes on at about three in the morning or so.

I only ask because when my Dad had kidney stones he said at first it just felt like a bad back from sleeping...

An enquiry is apprently underway.

We've just had a combi boiler heat exchanger replaced as it had clogged with central heating gunge (Approx 1cm flakes of magnetite (sp?)). They recommended we fit a Magnaclean filter (£250ish), to catch any future gunge and stop it happening again. Whats the general opinion of this, do they do the job? Is there anything else available?
