Go to the bank and ask them for a loan.

Buy it. Won't make you rich, but it would be a great thing to do.

The quickest way to make a million in the bike trade? Open a shop with 2 million.

Thats seems quite reasonable.

There is a little second hand bike shop in Surbiton, Surrey, when you look at the place and size you have to think how he makes money....

apparentely he used to have a normal bike shop and his second hand one is far more profitable!!

That guy is pretty well known for buying a lot of retro gear. He's sold on a lot of nice kit.

Seriously though, can anyone see a reason not to go for this?

I'm VERY tempted...

At that price depending on the details of premises/tools/current stock I'd be tempted.

I am assume as it's an existing business you wouldn't have that much trouble opening accounts with suppliers too.

Need to remember that you are making a commitment to the rent (£6000) for one year though.

If his reason for moving is true

And his accounts are up to date etc.. which will give you an indication of profitability etc..

Then go for it, £6.5 k is small beans (that tool kit is a few grand to start with) then yeas, you may need another 3/4K for extra stock and some rent so should be fine.

I'd be lookign to see how much he's turnign over/making via the shop and how much via ebay. Do you get all his contacts/goodwill etc.

I think the question is - can you make yourself a living out of it?

I've bought a bike of him in the past (via ebay), good service from him.

You need to factor in the power of The Bike Station in Edinburgh too...
