[Closed] Cotic Soda & 100mm Reba's - Will It Work?

My Talas forks look like they're going to the knackers yard (or to TF for new stanctions crown etc, which is likely to cost me apx £250). Have some 100mm Reba's under the stairs, does anyone ride a Soda/Soul with 100mm Rockshox on, and if so, how does it handle - I imagine that it will climb beautifully, but will it be a bit steep decending?

Thanks,

Stu.

Perfect combination IMO.

Don't know how length etc. compares however I ride 90%+ of the time on my Soul with the forks (Talas) set at 100mm, and previously I had 100mm Floats on it which were also excellent.

have run both soul and soda and they were best at 100-110 mm IMO of course

Thanks everyone. Will give them a go. Might run a shorter stem to knock me back a little too!

They will work great. But you may also be able to run the Reba at 115mm by removing the spacer on the air side. I think all Reba are adjustable between 85-100-115mm if they are the older version.

I've been riding my Soul with the fork at 100mm and it felt great, and I didn't find it steep for the downs (but this may depend on what you are used to). As the above folk have mentioned the fork should have a spacer in it allowing you to extend the travel. I took this out yesterday, extending the travel to 120mm, just for the sake of experiment really, but I've not really had chance to test it out properly off road yet so cannot comment on the difference. The good news is the removal of the spacer is a 20 minute simple job.

RB/theboatman, That sounds great. I've tried to look on the Rockshox website to find service instructions but can't find the info, can either of you point me in the direction of readily available info?

Thanks,

Stu.

I run my Soda with 100mm Rebas and it runs great.

Also interested to know how to change to 115mm in 20 minutes, just to try it out

tech doc should be here

http://sram.com/_media/pdf/rockshox/dealers/TM_MY09_E.pdf

Links to videos showing you all the steps you need, should be here, down the left hand side

you will need the lower leg removal/ refitting, and dual air spring service (you don't technically need to fully service the air spring, but it tells you how to get it out, but whilst you are in there...)

Run 100mm Reba SL's on my Simple and they're fine.

I reckon the Soul is really complemented by an adjustable fork to work with its versatility, the old 130mm Revs are perfect I reckon- if I was going to have just one length it'd be 120mm not 100mm as it still climbs well at 120mm but descends a lot better than it does at 100mm. But it does work well at 100mm for that matter, it's just a bit more XC and a bit less trailey.
