Presume you’re on about a 29er Marlin SS? Thats what i have as a winter hack. I used some exotic forks in the longer size, stuck some mud x on and a white industries freewheel and it’s been fine through winter.

I had a G2 geometry Rig and put normal forks on it because that’s all I had at the time. It felt a bit strange, but it was OK.
I bought some G2 forks and it was a lot better.

spot gfisher where did you get the forks from and how much trying to keep price down and was thinking of using on-one carbon 29er forks

£83 quid delivered direct from carbon cycles. I had the 46.5cm size as i was hoping the longer legs would help compensate for the 50mm G2 offset. I’ve ridden in Cannock Chase gloop all winter on and off piste and its been fine as a hack.

G2 geometry has a shorter top tube, but a longer measurement between the steerer and fork sanctions… http://fisherbikes.com/bike/series/g2-hardtails

so the head angle will be the same but your wheelbase and top tube will be shorter

BTW, they also saved near enough 4 pounds in weight over the cheapo suntour suspension forks that came standard on the bike!
