the screw on the reservoir cap on my XTR brakes, how can I get this screw out?
locktight on the end of a spoke?
MrNutt, that is a good idea, me love you long time
I did the same on some XTs... a slot cut in the top with a junior hacksaw, a large flat bladed screwdriver and a few whacks with a hammer to loosen it (somehow it had "glued" itself in; after a couple of taps it came out easily. No idea why...)
+1 for cutting a slot. You can also try drilling a V slim hole into it and using a screw extractor - like a tap/die but with a reverse thread to let you turn things out of a conventional screw thread. They're good on Al, but can be a bit brittle on steel screws/bolts and then are a pain to remove.
...have ruined the STW forum by posting this? ๐
these hydraulic brake issues are so interesting, aren't they?
thered, did you manage to get some new screws/caps? I need some. Where from?
Did the same on my hope caps, +1 cut slot.
Now have some more meaty screws that look a bit agricultural but won't strip.
