good friend of mine...friends with my ex wife and im friends with her ex husband.if it was on the cards should i avoid it? it would probaly be a "one off" but i also dont want to loose her as a friend. i dont see her that often, but what do people recon?

Why should it ruin the relationship? If you are truly good friends then there won't be a problem and yes I've been there.
Female friend of some 20+ years, more or less 15 years ago we spent some intimate time together, our lives moved on, and I consider her to be my closest friend.
I don't think we judge each other and are happy when the other is happy.

It really shouldn't change things if you are both consenting and realise its a one off type event.

She must realise you are attracted to her, and she may be to you. Perhaps your un-realised relationship was a cause in both your divorces?
Perhaps it could be discussed objectively together. What will you regret more, knowing (and choosing either way) or never knowing?
Back in my single days, I've had a couple of friends who went from "friend" to "friend with extras" and back to "friend" again. I'd say it depends entirely on the friend, it's very difficult to predict what will happen.
One thing I would say though, is to be very clear up front as to whether you're proposing "hey, let's have a spot of horizontal jogging" or "you know, I've always loved you, shall we take our relationship to the next level." If she's expecting one and getting the other, it could be messy.
(Though if it's not messy, you're not doing it right)

I've 'done' a few friends (although not at the same time unfortunately) in my past and it's never affected our relationships, if you are good enough friends you'll be able to tell them its just for fun anyway.
My of my friends with extras is still one of my best mates and always will be
