He's not really rude, just misguided. I'm sure his heart's in the right place but he's just often so inconsistent or lacking in self-awareness that it's impossible to take him seriously.

for some people being short has an effect on their ego and how they think others view them. often leading to overcompensating in areas of their personality to make up for the lack of height.
