So, I'm the sort that has Nokian NBX 2.1's on his heckler and thinks they're fine.
Was running 2.25 nbx lites on a hardtail, but they really are worn out now.
Soooo, in a mad moment I bought a (discounted) Maxxis holy roller 2.4 for the front and a 2.25 Maxxis ardent for the rear.
    Front is massive.
But, over here, in Aus, it works well as it's so sandy.
    Madness or inspired? Comments…

    This on the front:

    And this on the back:

Well, theory was that I wanted roll on on the front and something that'll dig in as I pedal on the rear. Bit like the ol' two wheel drive desert type vehicles, can't bring myself to say dune buggy.

Seemed to work OK. First technical descent I'm sure I'll decide otherwise…
    😆

Got to remember it's dryer than err a dry thing (that I can't say here) over here. Even a days rain (we had two inches in 48 hours) and it's dry by the afternoon, mostly.

    my thoughts too,
2.2 holy roller rear and 2.4 ardent front!

Really, seemed odd to me that way round. Not much I can add to that, at least I'll have conversation every time I run into other cyclists…

"Oi, Mate, your tyres are on back to front"….

It does look a little unconventional I must say. But blimey it smooths out the trails having a balloon at the front, wasn't really ready for that difference.
