Im off there on holiday in a few weeks, has anyone ever been mtbing in this area, if so what is it like? How does it compare to the Sierra Nevada? Any tracks or routes that you can recommend?
Me and me Bro-in-Law did some around Xabia/Javea (parents live nearby). Directly around xabia/Javea it's not brilliant,but the general area looks as tho there must be some great stuff. The local bike shop bloke was brilliant, spoke good English and gave us some really good routes.

As it turned out we didn't go there, but you might be interested in checking on them.
I should point out that we tried to get a MTB guidebook, there doesn't appear to be anything.
The trailrider guide to Spain recommends the area round Castell de Castell (about 30km from Benidorm)
