All we need now is a link between Superstar and Dave Hinde to finish this thing off nicely.

I was thinking about buying some Nano peddles but after this I don't think I will. I was a happy SSC customer but as TB hasnt confirmed or denied that he is or isnt fruit I am turning into a slightly annoyed ex customer.

Now where do I get cheap brake pads?

I think the proof is fairly conclusive. It'll stand up in court.

Brant's the master of all publicity being good publicity so I'm sure he will be able to put a positive spin on all this

Mr B doesn't need to put in personal apperances now his army of catamite fanboyz is so well established..........

I'm not going to cmment on his possible marketing techiques but every dealing with neil I have had are positive, i've found him polite and reasonable on the phone this incudes the way he dealt with a bad set of pads and a free LH crank arm he sent me 2 weeks ago because the spliines had worn on mine well outside of the warranty. I really find it odd that people seem to have experiences that are so different!?

mike-at-dialledbikes:

Not saying that I condone any of the stuff that Neil/Fruit/Tangobravo is accused of doing, but he's not the first brand owner to have a pop at another brand and he probably won't be the last.

Agree with that point Mike. The idea that underhand tactics have never occurred within the business world seems naive at best.

TangoBravo/Fruit/etc just seems to have been very bad at it 😉

Yes, I am a happy and repeat customer of Superstar components. I have had no issues or even wear and tear problems.

One day I hope Superstar produce frames of their own.

That is possibly the post of the year.

I'm tempted to buy a SSC ceramic BB just so I can become a fully fledged member of the SSC knocking club.

I've got a rock so fitting it is no problem 😈

But is it an approved rock as listed in the invisible manual?

It'll always happen but as a customer you don't have to accept it and can take your money elsewhere.

Just like I did way way back in the mid 90s when the guy in one boutique LBS slagged off every brand that they didn't sell when I was looking for a new bike. I made a point of not buying anything expensive there and haven't done since.

Of course, at least he was 'honest' about his slagging off in that it was clear that he was trying to sell his own products. Pretending to be a customer/not directly related to a business and then praising your product or slating others is just plain dishonest.

Understood - but theres a bit of a difference between bad implementation of a concept, and something like the use of bad materials in a design

From that review, it sounds like you could make that seatpost from very expensive materials - ti, carbon, high quality seals and the like - and it would still be a bit of a faff to use due to the inherent design - e.g. its a pain in the arse to drop on the fly 🙂

Now that is funny.

EDIT - The T shirt I meant, although the other thing is funny too, but I wouldn't want it printed across my back.

tempting

Oh and can someone point me in the direction of origins of the octopus stuff, I must have missed some quality threads somewhere along the line

although the other thing is funny too, but I wouldn't want it printed across my back.

I fully expect Brant to have a design ready by tomorrow 🙂

"Get your SSC thread commemorative Tshirts here!"

I use the brake pads, they're pretty good:) Nano pedals are ok too - No I'm not fruit!

I'd like to be reminded about the octopron thing too - sort of do but not fully

Octoporn appeared at th height of the Mlehworld / Fruit flame wars. I don't think there is any rational explanation just instead of slagging fruit people took to posting octoporn in answer to anything he posted

I believe octoporn was another fruit (if you'll forgive the pun) of BigDummy's legendary over-active imagination.

Ah TJ, that would make sense - I sometimes have a look over on mleh, but god knows what any of it means over there - I remember the whole fruit / octopron thing but could never work out WTF it meant - mleh

The octoporn link was started inadvertantly between CFH and me (when I was called sc-xc). Someone mentioned Howies 'jumping the shark'....this lead to me posting 'bumming the octopus'...which lead to CFH repeating it...

Next time a SSC thread was started, someone said they were bumming the octopus, then the octoporn started.

Not nearly as funny as Luke's rock story though 😀

Wasn't it from the thread about Howies having jumped the shark, then someone mentioned "bummed the octopus", CFH found it amusing, pics were hunted down and posted, and octopron was born?

lol - Welcome to the STW happy family 🙂

It's been ages since we had a SSC bashing thread - I always used to think they were entirely unjustified but it would appear this one has some merit!

I still like their pads but.........

Yes, I cannot claim credit for "bumming the octopus", but I always enjoy a spot of creature-based erotica. 😀

So anyway what's happened to tangobravo I thought he'd have been along with a concise response. I'm disappointed to say this least.
