Just had a disc decompression/laminectomy and two discectomies. No riding for six weeks! Can't lift anything heavier than a [s]glass of Jack Daniels[/s] cup of tea.

Thinking positively though: I am determined to enjoy the rest/attention, catch up on back issues of ST, MBR and Dirt and generally catch up with friends online.

My friends are going to rig up a bike on the turbo trainer at the end of next week, so I won't lose all my cv/muscle gains made during the year.

Still be careful on the Turbo.
My BIL rigged up a timber batten across my garage with a cushion on it so I could support my body on them.
Only thing was the turbos lifted my bike a good few inches off the ground and I couldn't get my leg over.....missus etc.

I've been out for 12 months due to illness, had my first off road ride in that time yesterday and was a moment I'll remember for a long while. 3 months will speed past.

I've just been chatting to a friend who's on his 18th week off the bike after complications from a relatively minor broken wrist. He doesn't expect to be riding MTB until Christmas. Pretty sucky.

All the best for your recovery and that.

No riding here either, broken scaphoid (diagnosed 3 weeks after the first x-ray missed it), cast for 10 days then more x-rays and re-assess.

Bushwhacked, sorry to hear that - a whole year! that's forever - hope you are properly back on the bike now.

Geetee - how come 3 months? I only got 6 weeks off when I broke mine

no reason at all, so your comment could be the best news I get all weekend!

I remembered it as 12 weeks last time I did this (yes, broke the other one as well four years ago!) but I hit my head pretty hard when I crashed so maybe my memory is a bit addled (or maybe that's just age!)

I've just commuted to and from work for the last three days. First time back on the bike since mid February!

I'll be in the club

fractured proximal humerus and also fractured the ball in my left arm 9 weks ago.

Now have 4 pins in the ball and 3 pins down the bone holding the plate on.

Started physio and have already got 50 degrees of movement back under my own power and can get my arm above my head by walking it up the wall with my fingers.

Hoping to be back on the bike on local trails before christmas and have been advised by the specialist to give it 10 months before I start going out properly.

Chris
