Right then boys and girls as it's less than 2 weeks away here's a heads up .Public car park next to Mc Donalds Minehead Saturday April 3rd .930 for a 10 am roll out .I f you were there last summer you'll remember a cracking day .So more of the same .Slog to Dunkery can be left out if you want .Keep in the fun bits Stoke Pero descent to Horner Water .Going to add a bit of a climb up Grannys to take in more sweet descending .Eats at the tea garden at Horner(she'll be open weather permitting ) .Sublime singletrack from Selworthy Beacon down North Hill to finish .Oh and an option of fish n chips on the beach at the end .Sound ok ?If so stick yer name down need to warn the tea garden lady how many roughly to expect .
So come along and say cheerio to the old bugger before he sets off for 5 months of hell in Whistler ! 😀

I've got a freedom pass that day and have been wondering where to ride. This sounds like fun, albeit quite a hike from oxon, but then that's why alarm clocks (and children) were invented. I wonder if it's mad to try and drive that far on a bank holiday. Hmm

It's quite hilly, but the pace is very sociable with no one left behind or make to feel awkward. Last summer's STW Exmoor Safari was my favourite group ride of the year.

I'm keen. Depends on the bird and her plans for Easter.

Every time you post about this, I have to balance the moral scales against leaving someone who's flown around the world to see me. It's a close run thing 😳

Anyone kind enough to provide a multimap/google maps location pointer for the car park please? Never been before & not sure how big the place is, and after 3 hours of driving I'll probably have lost the will to live/navigate :-). Cheers!

Mr Youngfart - are we having cream tea at the usual place? Presumably you will need to pre-order? Fish and chips on the beach again? Please ... no s****ing like last year at the beached whales 😯

Dare I ask about tyres? Am currently running Maxxis Medusa 1.8's - will they be OK?

Really looking forward to this. 8)

CG cream tea at usual place ?If the lady has reopened , she did say it was weather dependent .So will be phoning her as forecast isn't great :cry:which kind of impacts on the beach eating at the end as well .(i didn't mean eat the beach though one or two last year looked like they had ! :D)

Hi was down there last week bit of advice dont bother with the BW from Brockwell to Luccombe then the Rupp up to Webbers post both a mess.Dunkrey down to Brockwell running find at the end you get nice RED Tyres.Top of the beacon fine.Alot of surface water about.Grabbist was in better nick the two BWs down to Dunster running dryish.BW down into Wootton Courtenay bit messy nr the end.The BW around Sweetworthy is very muddy in places alot more Exmoor ponies up there nowadays.Have fun.Took me a while to clean bike after a few rides.

Hi there i might come along as well if i can please.I'm camping over at Porlock over the Easter holidays so it would be nice to ride with some other people rather than on my own.Been up over the tops today and aimed to go over Dunkery Beacon but couldn't make because of the snow, some of the drifts were knee deep and that was still a way from the summit.Oh, and iv'e only got Racing Ralphs as well...

Well I think there are other car parks near Butlins so if the one we used before is gone, I'll go there and ride over to McD's.

Hope the weather holds - this afternoon was pretty nice, if a bit cool.

The Warren Road CP looks to be on the same street as McDonalds, just a bit closer to the seafront.

More importantly, are there any news on the cake situation? Are we on code red yet?

Headless chickens stand down now !
All it means is charges will be a bit dearer . 😀
