I remember seeing a short animated film when I was a kid that started with a boy in a boat, then zoomed out further and further showing the earth, the solar system, the galaxy and so on.
It then zoomed back in past him to show cells, molecules and atoms.
Does anyone else remember this?
Has it made it on to Youtube or elsewhere on the web ?

cool - thanks for sharing! also if you like that...maybe check out music by the "Boards of Canada" who make very atmospheric electronic music inspired by these very films (National Film Board of Canada ) and that kinda era etc. etc.

God I LOVE this place sometimes.
I remember seeing that, I think, on John Craven's Newsround. I must have been seven or so at the time, though it seems as though this film was made four yeas before I was born so not sure why JCNR only got round to featuring it 11 years after it was released.
Great find. Here's the next challenge, at school we were shown a cartoon about Brunel which included a song about all the things he didn't invent, one of which was the human bra. Find that!
Thanks for that and for the other links as well.
This is what the internet is for.
the "human bra"

That's it woody. Try watching the whole film and imagine showing that to a class of prepubescent idiots with al of the boob jokes within. Our history teacher was stalking round the tv room with a ruler dishing out back-of-head-whacks liberally.

I've not seen the boy in the boat film before but I reckon that this old classic is even better:
Oh, and yeah the Boards of Canada reference? They must have been inspired by the Microscopic film when they made this (now another classic and an excuse to enjoy again):
That was posted up on here a few weeks ago Marty. Amazing piece of film.
Just having a look at and really loving the other videos by FroschYankee. Is that you?
