Mate gave me his old frame and a few bits yesterday to build up a hack bike...only bits he wants back are the pedals; the only things I can't remove. They're properly stuck; I've snapped a spanner (and not a cheap one at that) and an allen key trying to get them to budge but to no avail! Any suggestions?
Place none stuck pedal crank arm (or crank arm not currently trying to remove pedal from) up against the corner of a wall (so the crank arm won't move when you do the following:
15 mm spanner in the 12 o'clock position on the pedal spindle, big hammer, whack 15mm spanner very hard with the big hammer toward the back wheel.
If that doesn't work, keep the bike in the same position and:
Obtain long hollow metal pipe. Place hollow pipe over 15mm spanner in the above position and push it down toward the back wheel.
If that doesn't work:
Buy mate new pedals and remove crank arm and replace, fit pedal of your choice but only snug it up a little more than hand tight. I HATE pedals that have been put on by gorilla hands. No need.
an engineer m8 reckon just giving them a tweak (just a tiny tweak) tighter can help free any corrosion holding the thread tight.
Though a proper pedal spanner with some length to it does the job for me.

(have to ask, you are undoing them the right way?.. L-hand crank, clockwise)
Big long proper pedal spanner and plus gas to loosen it up if it's corroded. Can't beat proper leverage though.
Yeah doing them the right way...not that it matters I decided to try both ways just to see if anything would happen...I've also been using a big pole! They're quite nice cranks so I might just leave em on with the pedals and buy my mate new ones.
Kettle of boiling water then tap with a hammer to release the corrosion.
If you have the cranks off, chuck them in the freezer overnight, then tap, then boiling water.
You've tried the logical stuff, now is the time to apply lots and lots of heat.
agree with geoffj - leave cranks/pedals in freezer, dip in boiling water, use both hands to squeeze the allen key towards the crank..... bit of a tap to tighten a smidgen can help too.
