KIT, great idea with the photo club thread, I always love the photo threads.
I was wondering if people would consider putting a link through to their photo stream so that we can check out some of their other photos?

Cool! So much for doing any work today then ๐
Hey Doug, thanks! I saw your post before you edited it. Was wondering to ask folk to link their photos, but some people struggle to just post the darn pic, so didn't want to complicate it ๐
Besides, each thread/week I want to see something different, which you might not get if you've already looked through folk's accounts.
I'm easy though if folk want to do it, just no talking, right?! ๐

Don't forget that this will allow you to link images easily in forum posts, which both meets the Flickr T&Cs and means you can click through to the photostream easily: http://www.stewartpratt.com/?p=88
Hi Kit, I posted in the other thread then thought better of it so started this thread. I know what you mean about not looking through some people's accounts to keep things fresh for the other weeks.
It was your idea so go with whatever you want, I was just interested to see more photos from some of the entries.
there should be another forum for photo's/photography...

Posted it in the other thread, but might as well stick it here too.
Matt - There great, love the Top 20 ones, very good.
Here is mine. All 365 ones so far:

I was wondering if this could develop a bit ('scuse the pun!). Maybe each week, have a Photo Club assignment for the following week i.e. photos of your city/town/village or photos from around your home. Had thought about themes like B&W, pets, etc. each week, but unless you're already a prolific photographer, or have family, car etc then it can be difficult for as many people as possible to join in (which is the idea!).
Thoughts and opinions?!
Sounds like a good idea Kit.
They have a "photo of the week" competition on Kitecrowd (was Flexifoil Forum). Each week they set a word/theme and then at the end of the week people vote and the winner gets to pick the theme for the following week.
Would be good to have one running here as there seems to be some great photographers here.
Good idea Kit ๐

Will, how did you go about the one with the dog on floor infront of the fire? Really like it but no idea how you decide on lighting and getting correct exposure
Will : was your comment directed at me? If so, cheers!
Kit - I like your idea of assignments/topics. You could even do what some photo comps do which is to simply give a title and how it's interpreted is up to the photographer (which is exactly the same as a topic I suppose ๐ ). Anyway, as in your first post you said any thread started must be Photo Club - the topic can be included within in the title - therefore still no talking.
I have wanted to learn how to use a camera for years - here's my chance (I missed the photo a day thing and to be honest I'd probably forget to do that each day).

Not sure I like the other thread though, discussion of the photos is part of the point of putting them up.
Ewan: Got some nice photos btw, looks like Helvellyn was abit of an epic!

Well, I wanted a thread where people kept their mouths shut for once ๐ But seriously, the idea was to get as many people posting as possible, have a bit of fun, and we can appreciate some nice things without the need for chat. A bit like going on a ride without your phone, for example. You can just enjoy the scenery.
By all means, start another thread if you really feel the need to talk about the photos, but I think most folk will be happy to just look and post ๐
Cheers for the suggestions, maybe I'll add an assignment to the thread during the week.

Photo theme/assignment is a good idea. DPReview do this - see here.

The photo club and weekly assignment idea is genius - well done Kit.
I've given you all your assignment for next week's Photo Club
Brilliant ๐ I'm looking forwards to this. I like an assignment and the motivation it provides. I hope it gets off the ground and becomes a regular long runner. Cheers Kit. Top stuff ๐

There's all mine!!!
Just to clarify (thanks algarvebairn!), your assignment is due Tuesday 19th January, not February as I had originally posted. So next week, basically. Cheers for the positive comments, it'd be nice to see this work.
I'll be up for this:)
Rules? One photo per person? No comments on Photo thread?
yosh... you beat me to it...
one photo per person sounds like a good idea..
and cheers kit for setting this up.
Yip. Looking forward to this. Sounds pretty good. If there is to be no chat on the thread (which suits me) how we going to comment and criticise? For us novices, the Club could be a good way to improve our photography with a bit of help from the experts.
Hmmm, I wasn't sure about how this might work, but perhaps the format could be:
-Limit of one photo per person, as suggested.
-The ONLY comments on the thread are to be for votes, and I think something like '+1 username' and no more would be good, that way its easy to count up at the end, and keeps chat to a minimum.
-Anyone is free (obviously!) to discuss specific photos, techniques, make general criticisms/praise on a new thread (like this one).
One more thing (we'll get there, never organised this kind of thing before...)!

We'll carry out an informal vote and whoever has the most by, say, 1pm-ish Thursday 21st gets to choose the next assignment!
If you want your photo to be eligible for 'winning' the assignment, it must be posted before 11am on Thursday 21st January, at which time voting will commence, as suggested above. Voting will close at 1:30pm, which should cover most folk's lunch break.
Feel free to carry on posting assignment photos after 11am though! Its more about showing us all your photos than anything! They just won't be eligible for voting ๐
All this will be condensed into the thread, on the day, for clarity. What's important just now is to get a photo with at least one person in it, ready for Tuesday ๐
Ta,
Kit
