Anyone notice it's a high proportion of veterans too (me included)

Did not do it last year but a friend found it harder than a solo @ sits this year and he did 23 laps, twas a write up in the mag there was a high
drop out rate

Entry no 70.

I've done 7 hrs around Kielder - can't see it being as hard as the Cristalp. How long did you take on that - I bet you hit the Pas de Loma carry at about 9-10hrs in? Got to be harder than Kielder!

I think part of the difficulty was due to the conditions the week before. There were some sections that would have been nice, easy, spinny, flat link sections but were soul-destroying slogs of sogginess.

Okay word is that there is no entry 'cap' so to speak. However having spoken to the organisers they are keen to make sure that the event doesn't go into over drive too quickly and they will be keeping a close eye on how the entry situation goes. They do have a figure in mind that they don't want to exceed this year at least. They promise to keep you posted.
They are overwhelmed with the response this soon and are delighted that so many of you want to take on their 'little ' race! It's gonna be a corker!

I'm disappointed that the Kielder 100 is the weekend before this race:

http://www.nofussevents.co.uk/event/Tour-de-Ben-Nevis/1049/

Which I really want to do. I doubt racing a hundred miles woud be the best preparation...

I'm sooooo in for this. Loved the event this year and can't wait to do it again! It's the only event that I've worn out the rear brake pads and chain & cassette - haven't even done that on SITS! It is a very long way though 🙂

I'll feel more comfortable entering late summer 2011 events when I can tick that 40+ box.

I think I make 158 so far - fair number of familiar names from SSUK09.

Once again though the objective for me is to finish (possibly last again). On the plus side I get to pull out after one lap this time...

Edit - for whomever does volunteer to be a tail-end-Charlie, hello, you'll be riding with me for the first 55 miles I guess

midges? No one told me about midges. I'm from the west of Scotland originally I have a fear of midges bordering on phobia. S'pose I'll have to out run them. Ran to the top of Ben Lomond and back once because of how bad the midges were in Rowardennan.

Mind you 60% finish would have been considered good at SSUK...

Hey there Dicky, yes going to solo SITS again and thinking of Soloing Mayhem as well. Then there's The Dyfi and probably some of the Merida's too. What about you... big plans for next year??

I think so yeah. I reckon I'll be soloing SITS too so should see you there! Might consider mayhem although they're all a fair old drive away! I've just unearthed a turbo for a winter of fun........ Are you going to be doing any of the shorter course stuff? Whinlatter and Grizedale challenges were good this year.

Right them, I'm in at last.

I entered the Northern rock cyclone as well*. It's easy signing up to rides sat in front of your PC. 204miles in 15minutes.

*Roadie Sportive, apparently it's considered rude not to enter if you ride in the club with the organiser 😉
