First of all a big thank you to Bourton Cycles in Bourton on the Water for coming to my rescue today and fixing up the bike that I bought from a well known national chain that broke halfway through my 50 mile pootle.
Thanks also to the rider who took me back to their house, offered me refreshments and then drove me a fair distance to get my bike fixed.
All other riders that I passed gave a friendly nod, smile and hello... this doesn't seem the case with a lot of mtbers. I don't get it.
Got shouted at today by a mtb'er on the Cragg/Lee quarries link route for not getting far enough out of his way when he was descending and i was climbing back up from Lee Quarry. Think there are some riders out there with a sense of personal entitlement to the trails. Does the fact that i wanted to make the climb in one go not matter when compared to the riding gods heading downhill?
Sweeping generalisations are so much neater when they involve stereotypes.
Oh no! What a pita. ๐
But how public spirited of the rider who came to your aid, what a kind person. 8)
So ... did you enjoy the ride?
Yeah, it was awesome thanks C_G... beautiful weather, beautiful scenery, lovely bike. Very happy all round ๐
I think maybe the friendliness thing is down to normally riding trail centres where everyone is from all over. Does surprise me how many times you can say hello and get nothing back.
Anyway.. Bourton Cycles and Matt & Chirs are Awesome!!
Glad the bike falling apart didn't put you off ๐ I dont think one is more friendly/not than the other, just nice/unfriendly people in all walks of life.
I'm so bored/restless, need to exercise, Argh ๐ฅ

You need to get rid of that STD tattoo, TSY... ๐

that's why the place is great, it keeps a particular type of mtber on certain trails and leaves the rest to people with trail manners
Glad to be of help TSY, good to meet you and hope you enjoyed the rest of your ride. Got to say I was jealous as being at work today with such fine weather outside.
TSY What happened to your bike then?
My son has just come out ............ as a roadie! ๐ฏ
jj55, while you should be justly proud that your son has had the self confidence to be able to state his true nature, I would still disown him.
My son *only* rides road and track. I blame modern youth culture that places excess importance on appearance.
Still, he'd kick most of your arses in a race on either so I suppose I'm still laughing. ๐
Roadies are more frendly than mountain biker
you've clearly not been out with the Lakes Road Club
Well, TSY, It would appear your descent into perversion is almost complete.
So does this mean when I have finally sold off my HT, and get a road bike, I will have a sunnier disposition?
Yes it does Jamie, when you've got a road bike I will give you a hug... FACT.
Hang on, shouldn't you be doing some sort of group ride thing today?
Of which I will WANT pics.
I'm too busy watching Yeti sleeping to be organising stuff!
Wanna pic?
