Anyone know if the newer, I assume 2013, I-Spec B brakes and shifters are compatible with the original I-Spec.

I’m looking at breaks for my new build to go with an original I-Spec shifter I’ve got and really don’t want something that won’t go together.

Apologies if this has already been covered but I couldn’t find anything.

In a word, no. I-spec B type brakes have to be used with B type shifters.

    They aren’t cross compatible.

That’s just daft, why introduce a new mounting system and then a year(ish) later change it?

yep agreed that’s rubbish. Can you at least get a new type I spec bracket to “upgrade” your shifters?

The new I-spec ‘B’ shifters/adapters are backwards compatible to the old levers (with a special bolt included with them), but the old I-spec shifters/adapters are not forward compatible to the new levers.

    So, these combinations will work:-
    Old levers with old shifters
    New levers with new shifters
    Old levers with new shifters

    This combination won’t work:-
    New levers with old shifters

Confused yet? Nice one Shimano 🙄
