My mate's got a dx light that he intends to use for the first time tomorrow night. He intends to waterproof the battery with a couple of latex gloves and some insulation tape. Now, being the least practical man in Britain, this sounds fine to me. But I'd like to ask some of you more practical types, is it safe or just plain stupid/dangerous?

I wrapped mine up in duct tape and silicone sealed the end. Its then in a sandwich bag (as mentioned by smudge the battery man) and in a neoprene sleeve!

I sealed up the orignal packaging with a hot glue gun, been fine, no idea if it's safe though.
