Boats and ships this week.

As ever, use your imagination and interpret the theme any way you want.
Canal boats could be a good choice for anyone who's not near the coast or a major river.
Canoes, kayaks or model boats will do, if that's all you can find.
The only rule is that the picture should be taken between midnight tonight and midnight next Sunday.

Kingholm Quay near Dumfries. This old boat is a permanent fixture and it`s owner lives on it.

Decided to take a ride downstream on the river bank and see if I could get to Glencaple. Had not factored in the tide!!

Fair bit of bird life around;

The flood line debris;

POSTED 25 MINUTES AGO # REPORT-POST

That one is mine, dumped whilst I went for a look-see what was lying around. Found that road works sign which is a newish plastic one, a blade from the local rowing club and what I thought was a good vac flask until I noticed the base was missing.
That was my escape route btw, the tide started to cut me off and I was risking getting stranded with all the ditches & creeks filling up fast.
There is an amazing amount of debris along the river bank from all the flooding we have had this year.
River Nith flows into the Solway Firth and then Irish Sea.
There

as per Redthunder, Gary B is that a mini-sub?
Seems like a strange thing to just be abandoned, you have though some-one would have though it worthwhile keeping it.

My own effort, only 2 minutes from my house it's my friend Andy's barge - have spent the last two summers wandering up and down the local canal on this, beer in hand.
As I had to grab the car charger off it, I thought I could get away with it for this thread...

Now lets hope it just the battery that's drained/fubar'd on my car...

It's so stable that it can't fall over. ๐Ÿ˜‰

You are right though it does float. 8)

Struggled with this weeks challenge - but after 25 miles this morning I managed these 8)

The dad and son were somewhat bemused when this MAMIL turned up asking to borrow his boats for some pictures - they obliged nicely though ๐Ÿ˜†

I even went round by the windsurfing centre but no one was sailing

I like the lateral thinking with Samuel Plimsoll and the oil rig (if it is an oil rig)

This is someone's front garden in Bewdley.

Yeah, it's about time I set this weeks challenge isn't it ?

A couple of ideas I've had;

Colours. Maybe a bit too cryptic. You could get The Green Man or Red Lion pub in the background or a sign for Redcar or the Bluewater shopping centre.

Spring. I saw the first baby ducks this year today. Would have been a bit difficult to get them and the bike in one picture, so I don't know how this would work.

Following trains and boats we could go for cars, which is too easy, or aeroplanes, which is too hard.

Victorian engineering or public works. I rode past a water works yesterday and I love the way buildings with such a mundane purpose were built with such ornate brickwork. It may not have been built during Victoria's reign, but it was very much in that style.

An arch that is not a bridge. A tunnel or part of a building perhaps.

Song titles. Nothing too obscure and nothing too obvious either, like Madness and Our House.

Or creepy houses. Are there enough creepy houses around and could you capture the atmosphere in a photo with a bike for it to work ?

Any other suggestions ?
I'll go with the first one to get two votes, whatever it is. Probably.

Maybe for the future; bikes with specialist vehicles

Another vote for Victorian engineering. My Target for this would also have fitted in with last weeks.

Woohoo.

Finally one I can add too. This photo was taken Tuesday morning, and shows Poole Harbour from Holesbay road. In the Background you can see the RNLI's HQ and many lifeboats and to the right Sunseekers boat storage for fairly newly built boats (I think)

[img] [/img]

EDIT: Crap, I'm a week late ๐Ÿ˜ณ

Yes I know I'm fashionably late on this thread but I live 15 miles from the sea so finding a boat nearby is not easy. Anyway today on my local bimble I found this boat high & dry in a field - yeah it surprised me too.

[img] [/img]

As you can see it hasn't been in the water recently as demonstrated by the tree growing in the hull ๐Ÿ˜€

[img] [/img]

Just to make my day there are no Victorian works anywhere near me for this weeks photo challenge ๐Ÿ˜ฅ
