I'm bored of my On One - anyone got any suggestions for a good XXXC type frame? I want to avoid steel frames ideally, but apart from that have no idea where to start!

Thanks in advance! ๐Ÿ™‚

I guess that Ragley thing would be the place to start.

is this, very cross? (like in cyclo cross)
or
extreme to the max rad cross country?

surely this is like saying "reccomend me a bike"

we need more information?

what parts are going on it?
forks?
aimaing for light weight?
heavy?
"welter" weight?
decender?
climber?
whippet?
brute?

๐Ÿ˜†

anyone got any suggestions for a good XXXC type frame?

So do you want a frame for naked riding? ๐Ÿ˜ฏ

Or a frame for someone who rides "cross country" and thinks they are to "rad" and "core" for a normal frame? ๐Ÿ™„

Or perhaps the swear filters have got a bit confused? ๐Ÿ˜•

Bored of the bike.

Have none of you guys ever heard of XXXC ("triple X C")? I thought it was a pretty common term; gets used all over the place. I guess put simply it's basically a more aggressive type of cross country riding.

I think you need to specify your XXXC a bit more...
Are you for example into the flowcore side or perhaps the more FR-Lite-Xtreme? Or are you actually just going to pad up like a wannabe mxer and tell everyone in the Glentress car park how cool you are?

Is XXXC a way of life or a state of mind?

Has it been graded on the 'core equation -

I did a fair bit of XXXC riding this summer and I used a NS Bikes Surge. Did the job on steep climbs and also tore up the descents too.

If you're after another hardtail, I'd recommend this.

Sorry just reread the question and realise you're not after a steel frame!

I'm stumped in that case! Ti Ragley perhaps? I believe that also features the slack/steep ratio preferred for this XXXC business (correct me if I'm wrong!)

It breathes! Give it a year and XXXC will have spread like a nasty rash! Crazy legs might remember its start a few months back... It was so bad it just had to take off. Now it's out there and gaining momentum. Yikes.
Probably more way of life than state of mind though. The only way to be XXXC is to live XXXC, you know?

To be more useful, Alu or Ti ragley are probably the main non-steel options just now.

Crazy legs might remember its start a few months back...

You're right, there was a thread on here a while back asking "what tyres for XXXC". Now we've got "what frame..."
Pretty soon there'll be a complete bike ready to rip the XXXC scene to the max. ๐Ÿ˜‰

more like a quantum leap than a jump. kaboom!

Oh and re "quantum leap" - In real physical systems a quantum leap is not necessarily a large change, and can in fact be very insignificant. In the popular sense, the term is usually applied to mean a large or significant change, which is thus not strictly correct. So there.

on one scandal - xc
cotic soul - xxc
on one 456 - xxxc
sc chameleon - xxxxc
dialled alpine - xxxxxc

i'd go for the cotic myself but that might not have enough x's... ๐Ÿ˜‰

In real physical systems a quantum leap is not necessarily a large change

In fact, the size of the change is irrelevant, a quantum change is an immediate change from one position/qty/etc to another rather than a continuous change (eg volume of water in glass when you fill it from a tap) - eg if you have one bike and then get a second, that's a quantum change since you don't progress from 1 to 2 bikes through all the quantities inbetween.

You might do if you bought it piecemeal off CRC/Wiggle/LBS etc over the course of a couple of months, then built it up.
