I like my wallets leather, with plenty of space for useless bits of plastic, ids, cash and coins (preferably with a zipped compartment for the coins).

But the ones I use never seem to last longer then a couple of months before falling apart. Is it time to give up on leather, or do I just need to go for a better quality?

Mulberry, holds eight cards plus notes. £50 in the factory outlet in Bicester. I try and keep it out of the back pocket when cycling to avoid moisture. I suspect the need to hold coins is not doing much for longevity. “What’s in your wallet?”

You want an Oakley kevlar wallet.

Had mine for 5 or 6 years and it just won’t wear out.

Hermès make the best imho. Or Longchamp for cheap alternative.

Check Nixon wallets. I’ve got a Big Note model, leather, nicely made, still going strong after 3 years.

Why are you putting coins in a wallet? Surely that’s a purse?

CHB with easecase is winning me over at the moment, I don’t see the point in spending more on the wallet then I’m going to put in there 😀

Another factory seconds Mulbery here (£30), 10 years plus on this one and still going strong but no coins in it – infact lately no much in it at all 🙁 . James has had an Animal Nylon for 5 years with coins in it gives it hell and still intact. Like the look of the Paul Smith and one has a coin pocket! But £149 !!!

What does everyone do with their coins then if not put them in your wallet? Pocket?

Put them in your pocket until you get home, then leave them at home.

I’ve got a Fox leather one, it still looks new and must be 8 years old.

Coins go in back pocket. I hate having large objects in my pockets, so a big fat wallet with half a lb of change in it is a big no.

fishing around inside a wallet looking for change makes you look like an old lady paying for a packet of mints in the newsagents

I have one knitted from Peruvian aardvark leather that I found when tracking for Robert Falcon Scott in the Andes in 1691.
It even has a slot for an iPhone 7.
