What was that song ...

I think you'll find, it was this one:

[url=

u'll Never Walk Alone...

When you walk through a storm
Hold your head up high
And don't be afraid of the dark
At the end of the storm
Is a golden sky
And the sweet silver song of a lark

Walk on through the wind
Walk on through the rain
Tho' your dreams be tossed and blown
Walk on, walk on
With hope in your heart
And you'll never walk alone
You'll never walk alone

Walk on, walk on
With hope in your heart
And you'll never walk alone
You'll never walk alone.

And sung so beautifully, too...

Hmm, the Scummers are a bit quiet this afternoon...

Amazing how quickly such a huge stadium empties.

Come back when the trophies are handed out. I think you'll hear a rousing chorus from the Stretford End then.

Fair play - Liverpool deserved it although I think 4-1 was a bit flattering. Hopefully Mun-U will take it as a wake up call and not drop any more points in the run in

Oh, sorry, I forgot I'm not allowed to support any team I like, only the one geographically closest to where I was born, regardless of the fact some of my family were from Merseyside and Liverpool FC were the team they followed.... 🙄

Next...

I have no doubt that Manure will not relinquish such a lead, easily. They are without question, a superb side. When Giggs, Scholes and Berbatov came on, I was bricking it. The talent they have sitting on the bench is better than most Premiership first 11s. Terrifying.

But for the moment, I shall savour a great victory over our greatest rivals.

Man U are pure class. But LFC have shown, this week, that they are capable of beating anyone.

Just a shame we coon't play like that against the likes of Stoke, and ****ing Middlesborough...

"Support" what team you like. Funny how when people "support" a team other than their home-town team it is generally a big and successful club.

Think I'll support Barcelona - why not? I once thought about going on holiday there.

Blah blah blah.

Boring..

What about Gerrard's miss near the end, eh? Good thing the game was already won!

Tevez was brilliant, I thought. Non-stop all game. Rooney and MyLittlePony may get the plaudits, but Tevez is a fantastic player.

As for 'support'- why does Rooney play for Manure, when, surely, 'Once a Blue, always a Blue'? 😉

My point exactly racing_ralph. Supporting a team isn't about going on a forum winding people up, it's about buying a season ticket, paying to go to games and being there when it goes wrong time after time.

Supporter my arse, a 'fan' yes, supporter no.

Question: Why are all you lot who are questioning me, on here, rather than watching your teams?

And why do people have such a problem with people supporting teams other than their local ones?

Truth is, I can't actually afford to go to many games, as it's so bloody spensive, what with ticket, train, sometimes accommodation etc. I really don't like being in a big crowd, either (was at Upton Park once, proper panicked. Coon't wait to get out. Just felt claustrophobic, and really scared). I 'support' my team in whatever way I can. Shirts cost money, etc. Now, this may not be adequate, as far as some of you'se are concerned, but quite frankly, I coon't give a stuff.

I love my footy, whether it's watching or playing. And I don't mind the banter between rival clubs. All part of the fun!
Liverpool, Manure, Arse, etc have millions of fans/supporters, most of whom buy the stuff, but never get to see games, due to geographical/financial constraints. does not in any way make them any less 'supporters' than anyone else. Me wearing an LFC top is showing 'support'. TBH, most Arsenal fans in London never go to games. So what?

BTW, there's a big difference between a fan and a supporter. You might be a fan, but you're certainly not a supporter.

Question: Why are all you lot who are questioning me, on here, rather than watching your teams?

Cause they are playing at the other end of the country. But I have a season ticket for my son and I take, take him to a lot of away games, he's involved in community football at the club, etc.

It seems you don't actually support Liverpool at all.

A supporter goes to the stadium to watch the game.

A fan watches it on the internet or sky.

'Anyone care to explain the difference between being a fan and a supporter? '

Obviously there is definate answer to that - but i would suggest a supporter is one who goes to home and/or away games when finances dictate, and the fact they are local to you might become more believable to opposing supporters.... 8)

Maybe a fan would be someone who hands over £50 for the latest shirt in JJB sports and watches 'their' team on Sky and has a go at others on internet forums.... 😉

My 2p's worth anyhow.

What if a person tries to get tickets for every game but because of the huge demand for them never manages to get any? Fan or supporter?

Or what about the person whose sister inlaw works for a teams major sponsor and gets free tickets to every game thereby reducing the clubs income? Fan or supporter?

No, I don't like really big crowds. I'm not ashamed to admit that.

You might be a fan, but you're certainly not a supporter.

Because you define what 'support' is, do you?

Have a word with yourself...

FYI; LFC pull in what, a couple of million quid a game, from gates. After tax, police/ambulance costs, etc, and players/staff wages, there's not an awful lot left, to pay for new players, etc. So, big clubs like Liverpool and Manure raise revenue through sponsorship, fan membership and merchandising, as well as TV rights etc. So, The contribution towards running a club comes largely from sources other than ticket sales. Anyone who pays for owt like a shirt or Sky TV or whatever, is 'supporting' the club in some way, however small their individual their personal contribution may be. I feel I am 'supporting' my chosen club, in my own little way.

And if you don't like that, well, tough.

PS I drink a fair few cans of Carlsberg...

Well if they hold a season ticket then they get first offer on tickets, and as for getting free tickets that's not supporting the club.

I just think its a bit of a joke that someone who never goes to games posts on a forum about a result for the team they 'support'. If it was really that important to you then you would have been there.

IMO, Fan = supporter.

According to some on here, though, you are only a 'supporter' if you have a season ticket, go to every game, live within half a mile of the ground, etc...

I doubt, if I lived on Merseyside, and blethered on about the game on here, that people would question my 'Loyalty', which I feel is the real issue, here. Regardless if I actually went to games, or not.

Getting tickets for Liverpool games is virtually impossible, unless you have a fair bit of money, or can get to the ground to buy from the box office. I've spent hours at a time, on the ticket hotline, only to fail in my quest. Each home game allocation (after season ticket holders, box office sales, etc) is only a few thousand. They will get tens, if not hundreds of thousands of calls for those tickets. I jolly well have not been lucky so far this season. 🙁

Smee makes a very good point, as does bigeyedbeans.

If it was really that important to you then you would have been there.

Sadly, I don't have the money to buy a ticket off an agency, which would have been the only way to get one for this game. They go for hundreds.

If I could afford to, I'd go at any available opportunity. I can't, so I don't.

Gary_M getting a season ticket at Anfield isn't as easy as getting one at Goodison (they gave those away free with mobile contracts a couple of seasons ago) I have been on the waiting list since the 1997 and am still nothing like getting a season ticket. Liverpool aren't local to me either - 450 mile round trip to go to each game.

I have been to something like 300-350 games in the last 25 years, but haven't paid for a ticket for the last 5 years. Until my sister inlaw started her current job I couldn't get tickets for love nor money, despite spending a couple of hours on the phone on the first day that tickets went on sale for every match.

You have me confused now, please enlighten me am i a fan or am i a supporter?

SC-XC - the club has one less ticket to sell as the sponsor doesn't pay for extra tickets, but gets as many as they want.

Haha! When I went to uni, there was this guy big watford fan anyway my uni was in wycombe so not to far and he had a season ticket, in the summer after they got promoted we went to the stadium you could walk in round the back, he was so happy talking about henry, ronaldo, gerrard running along the wing. bit of weathered stadium.

At what? That's a fact. It's Liverpool FC we're talking about, not Accrington Stanley (Oo are they?). Anfield's capacity is just over 45000. Games like Liverpool V Manure, Bitters or Arse, for example, will attract stupid demand for tickets. They could probbly sell several times the amount. Virtually every home game is a complete sell out. same at Manure, Bitters, Arse, Spuds, Cheatski, etc.

Yer Middlesborough V Stokes may see a few empty seats, mind.

I would imagine they don't get as many as they want, it would be agreed as part of the sponsorship deal. Otherwise they could simply ask for all 45,000

Isn't a "supporter" somebody who 'supports' the club of which they follow? In my own personal definition of 'support', this means buys tickets and goes to the games. Anything else including being given the tickets for free and turning up at the game makes you a 'fan'.
If it makes any difference, I was born in Manchester, now live in Cheshire, have a season ticket for Man City, go to every home game and a few aways (I miss Sheff Weds and Sheff Utd aways the most), now regard myself as a Man City supporter and a football fan. I'm also looking forward to seeing the highlights of the Utd v Liverpool game and would have been if the result had been the other way round. I'm sure it was a great game to watch.
Oh, and Rudeboy is a rather small annoyance 🙂

It's not just your loyalty. It's your credability. I'm guessing you are of the age that when you were 'picking' (although I wasn't aware football fans/supporters 'picked' a club!!!) a club to be a fan of, that Liverpool were on top. ie winning titles.

Getting tickets for Liverpool games is virtually impossible, unless you have a fair bit of money, or can get to the ground to buy from the box office. No we haven't. You mentioned watching games on Sky, do you subscribe to Sky Sports?
'Support' means, by definition, to help or assist, usually physically or financially. You don't do this, you're an armchair supporter (or more likely you go to a pub and nurse a pint for a couple of hours).
For the record, I'm not a seaon ticket holder but I go to half a dozen or so home games every year as well as with the home fans at a few local matches like Wigan, Bolton and Blackburn. I also take clients at least once a year for a meal in the Executive Club.

(I also take clients 'behind enemy lines' to Old Trafford so though I'm technically a supporter, I'm certainly no fan.)

Prawn sandwich anyone?

Yes please! I love prawns, me!

We've done that bit, and moved on.
No we haven't.

Yes we have. I've said we have, so we have. The matter is closed. Don't like that? Then go and peel some potatoes for yer tea, or something. People are trotting out the same tired old rubbish they were at the start of this thread. And there's the same old same old 'Oh look, RudeBoy's said something, so I have to go and try and prove him wrong' crap. Trouble is, you can't ever prove me wrong, as I am always right. Have you lot learned nothing??? 😉

I'd be up for having an entertaining discussion with 'fans', 'supporters' or whoever would like to discuss the footie itself.

Arse looked pretty good. Pity they've had key players injured for so long, and a lack of experience in the team. They have some fantastic raw talent, and old Arsene certainly knows how to spot them! Shame to see Arse not in the hunt this season, though, to give it even more spice.

Will Villa have enough, to keep hold of fourth place? Or are they only there because Arse jolly well have not been on form? Will we see a battle between those two and Everton, possibly, for that CL place?

And then you've got Wet Spam, who've had one or two slight problems, let's say, but have actually done ok. They must be thinking about a possible UEFA Cup place.

And Relegation? West Brom are probbly down already; they just aren't up to coping with the PL. But Borough, Portsmouth, Newcastle and even Blackburn must be getting worried. Even Hull have slid down the table, since their early good form had them right up there at the top.

S'been a bloody good season so far, I think. Still a few twists and turns, mark my words. And some exciting players coming up.

I strongly believe an English club will win the CL. One will be in the final, for sure.

But which one....?

I'd be up for having an entertaining discussion with 'fans', 'supporters' or whoever would like to discuss the footie itself.

Well there are millions of footy forums to argue on instead. In some arguments you have valid points you just always seem to ruin them by ranting. I'm off to the pub.

same at Manure, Bitters, Arse, Spuds, Cheatski, etc.

Real supporters do not have silly pet names for rivals!! Who the **** are "bitters"? Surely the most apt nickname for Liverpool whose fans are always bitter and looking to lay the blame at someone else's door!!

No, course they don't... 🙄

What, yer manager, off a tall building? 😀

I do feel for the 'smaller' clubs. It's very difficult to survive in the PL, and relegation can be devastating for clubs, when they go down (loss of revenue, good players leaving, etc.)

Not Derby, though. They just gave up. At least WB are trying to make a fight of it. Derby were a disgrace.

Rudeboy - as if you'd know!! It would involve mingling with real supporters in big crowds!!
Anyway answer the question - who are "Bitters"?? And why is that not the official nickname of liverpool?

RudeBoy I've always found your posts pretty childish, but this one has reached a new level. You really are very immature.
