Funny, it doesn't look as sunny as I remember it...

Cracking weekend with excellent company and SUPERB riding.

I'd second that, I'm sure we could see the village from the top of the downhill. Perhaps you photoshopped some low cloud and puddles in there so no one will ever suspect just how good the riding up there is. Sneeeeky

ha ha funny funny. Flickr uploader is currently on 23 of 78, so tomorrow morning with photo's. I felt i was gonna get manraped at the roundabout. You were probably still upset that i passed you earlier doing 134mph..

Camera is wellied, goosed, knackered but photo's alright. Good weekend with good company. As always i was the official photographer for the trip. We also managed to avoid killing the loudest snorer ever in the bunkhouse and somehow, altho wearing my best y-fronts, avoided the advances of young german female loving looking to make their sequel porno, bunkhouse 2!!

Oh yeah, no suprise but both sets of brake pads knackered here as well ๐Ÿ™„

Top weekend, brilliant trails, the only real midgies we encountered were at the car park as we got changed. They knew we'd be back.

all together now..................... 5 flats on my moonter but im still rolling along,
top weekend with good chat,( thanks for the tubes )
managed to get home in one piece thanks to the quadruple shot latte in aviemore. wheres the photies ?

He guys, thanks for putting up with my slowness on Saturday and for my "permission to cry" after the OTB from Raddog ๐Ÿ™‚ most gentlemanly. Matt enjoyed his ride yesterday and was glad he didn't do the Saturday! I've got wee bruises on my shoulders from the hike a bike.

Me and the kids got midged to death on sunday and retreated to the Torridon Inn for a gigantic restorative lunch.

Looking forward to the next event!

you didnt look all that slow on the downhills from where i was standing, i kidnapped some midges in my van and didnt let them out till aviemore,
of course they may breed with the local population and produce a race of supermidge......you have been warned . did you notice matts the only one smiling in the sunday photies

Its the 'happy to make it the top' smile. Little did he know he still had 20 more minutes of climbing to go. The descent was more than worth it though.

i thot the same about you, i'm sure he was gonna do the same after i passed the van. Think he cautiously carried on to the next junction( a whole new thread there i presume). Talking about new threads, the 'what bearings for a Scottish summer', the 'what tyres for natural trail riding' and 'what brake pads that last more than 2 descents' need to be started ๐Ÿ™‚

and thats with 'only' 2 costume changes and being allowed to 'cry'. Not implying she was slow or anything but Peter had learned how to coaster wheelie, Colin had fixed 2 punctures, Stuart had worked out how to use his camera, Oli had fully recovered from glandular fever and Matt had begun his Sunday ride, all by the time Jo had caught us on the 2nd climb...... on Saturday ๐Ÿ˜‰ (expects a stick in the spokes next week)

You forgot the hour long stop to put on a fresh pair of gloves with damp cold hands.

No sticks in spokes, but that's a very shiny car you've got, you want to look after that. Be horrid if it got scratched or something... ๐Ÿ˜‰

I'm wondering what tyres the Bunkhouse Weegies are using to do the two rides we did. They must be teflon coated, helium filled, gravity defying, midgie-proof trail finding wonder tyres.

No sign of an mountain rescue teams out looking for them yet.

What tyres for lard eating, mullet fashionista, gender bending Weegies?

I was smiling 'cos I was having fun. Really enjoyed the whole ride particularly the descent through the woods. A few twitchy moments with the drop to the right.

What route are the photos from?

Got a route discription?

Up there in September and looking at the two routes in Kenny Wilsons book.

Not sure we can squeeze both in. Any recommendations on what is best?

Saturday was a combination of this:

Miss out the climb up through Coire Lair and descend to Achnashellach station instead - superb. These maps don't show the extra 50 miles that Radoggair and I cycled uphill, into the wind, to get to and from the bunkhouse...

my shiney white shoes are banging! my proper disco slippers... well they're a thing of beauty 8)

can't believe my only puncture all weekend was about 1km from the finish of the last descent!

how long was saturdays loop btw?

i'll have to try that last descent on sunday at some point when i have brake pads. would be nice to throw the bike down it a bit quicker and know that i could stop. or slide off the side...

MemoryMap says 66.3kms and 1300m ascent BUT that includes all the road riding up and down the glen that Radoggair and I did to get from Kinlochewe and back.

I'd say about 40kms which isn't much, but it's a ride that packs a fair bit in...

Annoying, me, never. I simply documented the whole affair. Camera has officially brken though, thats why no pics from Sundays ride. The pics also dont show how bad the weather got at some points, how windy it got or how many bloody midges there were as soon as we stopped

134, yes both ears tucked in. I would barely hit 100 if they weren't. Least i dont drive about with the roof down when its raining ๐Ÿ˜‰

Yes Stuart, we did do abit more than everyone else. i especially enjoyed the first road section, downhill all the way to the carpark. The first time i listen to you and there's not a piece of downhill in sight. 6 miles of climbing into a headwind........... fun fun fun

You can clearly see the stair-rods of rain in some of the pics from Sat.

Greig was not in the least annoying with the camera. He was always at the front waiting, so he could take pics as we arrived and set off each time. Thanks for sacrificing your camera, mine was almost ruined and it was kept in the bag in my camelbak all day.
