Classified Rules

What’s the classifieds forum for?

The classified forum is free for all private sales. It’s there primarily to provide and opportunity for you to sell those unwanted bits and pieces that you have no need for that someone else may well be desperate to get hold of.

You should think of it as a car boot sale of bike parts.

Lets try and define what we mean by ‘private’.

The ’spirit’ of our forum is one where users can turn their old, surplus or unwanted kit into extra cash to enable them to buy new bits to help them get out and continue riding. The Classified Forum is not a place where users can trade parts bought elsewhere and then sold at a profit. If we suspect that a user is exploiting our forum to earn additional income or solely for the purposes of making a profit then we are very likely to consider that as ‘Trade’ activity and we’ll ask you to stop. We will look at each instance reported to us or spotted by us on a case by case basis and then we will act at our discretion.

That said we do allow certain types of Trade Ads where we feel they will be of benefit to our users. Trade ads are allowed but only after following some very strict guidelines and rules. If you are in the bike industry and would like to know how you can use the classified forum to clear slow moving and old stock then get in touch with mark@singletrackworld.com.

Items For Sale

  • If you are a private seller advertising what you have for sale you should prefix your ad with “FS”
eg - FS - Easton monkey lite bars
  • No more than 2 ads on the page at any one time - Combine multiple items for sale into one ad or wait until your previous two ads have dropped off the front page before posting a new ad.
  • Include a price! Ads without prices are speculative and annoying to buyers. You run the risk of having your ad removed if you do not include a price.
  • No Ad reposting for 24 hours! So your ad drops off the bottom of the page - it can still be found - but constantly reposting the same ad over and over each time it does is not fair on other sellers. If it drops off the page and you still don’t have a buyer, wait a day before reposting it. Offenders will have their ad removed.
  • Repeat offenders will have their accounts suspended for a minimum of 48 hours.

Wanted Ads

If you are seeking a specific product you should prefix your post with “WTD”

eg - WTD - Easton monkey lite bars

eBay Auctions

Ads promoting Ebay auctions are strictly for private sellers only and even then are only allowed within the final 12 hours of an auction. Anyone posting links to auctions with longer than 12 hours to run will have their ad deleted and will be banned from the forums for three days. Ads promoting Ebay auctions must be prefixed with ‘EBAY

eg - EBAY - Easton monkey lite bars

Trade Ads

Trade ads must follow very strict guidelines and must be paid for in advance. They must be prefixed with the word ‘TRADE‘ and the first line of the ad must contain the unique 8 digit number issued in the receipt issued after paying for the ad.

eg - TRADE - Easton monkey lite clearout
