Question was:
If I use tubes that are marked 1.75-2.2inch in a 2.4 tyre do I need to be cautious by:
a) avoid running them at low pressure i.e. high 20's
b) avoid running them at high pressure i.e. 40's
c) low or high is fine. There is no difference between 2.2 and 2.4 tubes.

Well I use 1.5-2.1 tubes in 2.25 and 2.3 tyres with no problems at 30-40psi, but then I am a riding genius 😀

Run them at the pressure that your riding requires. I've seldom bothered to look at inner tube size except circumference, tube diameter matters a lot less IMHO.

No problems, and "high 20's" isnt low, I wouldn't thing of low pressures untill I was in the teens! High for me is 35 and I'm at the hefty end of the spectrum!!!

The only time I have problems is if theres a puncture patches tend not to like stretching that far.

I've used tubes lablelled as 1.75-2.1 in a 2.5in tyre, in the Alps. No problem at all. 🙂

It's just the same as running a thinner tube than normal- it's the tyre that gives it strength, the tube just gives it airtightness. So it'll be stretched slighty thinner and possibly slightly less tough, but it'll work just fine.
