Nope. As long as you use silver spokes, and preferably highly polished hubs.

Silver hubs look really good - they reflect light all round the insides of the spokes and make the whole lot shine
I want silver hubs on my road bike but can't justify it.

you need white spokes to ease the transition between shiny & dark

I lurv my silver Chris Kings with silver spokes and 819 rims. Silver spokes look best especially if ride through street light. Never liked black spokes. Silver are seemingly stronger too.

(Mr MC posting)

"silver" spokes make a wheel look lighter as theres less visual mass, I think silver spokes look far better than black despite having black on both my bikes, 🙄 MC inherited my black hub-silver spoke-black rimmed wheels and they just look right.

silver hub with silver spokes good.
silver hub with black spokes would look totally wrong.

Black spokes look lighter in the dark.

Jonation has it. I'm glad this is one less thing I have to think about.
