My brakes have taken to emitting a deepish juddering noise when I stop. Sometimes they squeal, but this noise is a lot deeper - the only think I can liken it to is a truck horn.
What's causing it? The pads are clean, but i changed them anyway and it still does it.
What could it be?

Misalignment, something worn, something loose, spoke tension?

spokes fine, nothing looks worn - not sure about misallignment (one pad has always seemed more over than the other), everythings tight

Mine did this when my Hope bearings needed replacing, changed bearings & no more brake induced chewbacca.

The Juicy 3 on the rear of the bike I was riding last night was doing it. I centred the caliper and made sure the bolts were all tight and it disappeared.

I was also put a bit of grease on the back of the pad, ie the interface between he piston and brake pad.

Hmm, mine did that for a while and have heard others say the same.

I cleaned the rotors with meths, cleaned around the pistons with a bit of brake fluid on a tooth brush, dried and recentered it. They were fine after that but never really got to the bottom of what it was.

Mine only ever honk if I get contaminants on them. Sometimes takes a few cleans to get it all off.
