Thats bad news buddy....Im not in a position to loan you that cash. But don't go selling what's dear to you just yet....

The bike might be the only thing that will keep you sane over the next few months.

Good luck.

You must have some kit to sell other than a bike?

Ebay some stuff, or maybe a car boot sale. Did one the other weekend and turned up with some cds, dvds few odd bike bits and various crap I didn't want. Was amazed to make 165 quid! Thought I was going to get about 50 to 60. Worth a go?

I know it's not why you posted, but I haven't forgotten that desperation when a skint student. I'm too rubbish a rider to benefit from a jumpbike so thought Zedsdead had the right idea. You're another quid closer... good luck

an idea? well if you want to sell something for £200 a description is an idea, er explain to your landlord whats happened, tell him your good for it then get weaving, do some cash work as in gardening, decorating shifting.what can you do?

Zedsdead you star! I thought of doing exactly the same thing when he first posted..then got distracted.

I lived in the back of a van for a year so now all about hardships in life.

I too will donate a pound.

But I don't normally give handouts so.....when you are more solvent promise me that the cash you generate here is donated back to a worthy cause of the majorities preference.

So a £1 and RNLI

Can't paypal you a quid as I don't have paypal. Got to second the above though, sort out housing benefit as soon as you can. And talk to your landlord/letting agent, they might be sympathetic to your situation (and if they aren't it still takes quite a while for them to do anything about it).

Mike sorry to be personal, but why are you living away from the family home, and what happene dto borrowing off your family, i well understand that some things must remain personal to you,but do go down the local benefit office and claim jobseekers and housing benefit, the CAB, will help you fill out the forms, if you where local id offer to help , but you are just a name on an internet forum, but i seriously wish you the best of luck.

Your friend may not be entirely correct re. benefits - check it out carefully and it costs nothing to ask. Enquire both with Job Centre Plus directly and speak to Citizens Advice.

Well, it wasnt actually a "job". i was working as a part time labourer for my mate to just keep on top of the bills. But last week i got layed off and am now living off the money from selling bike parts. Which is the whole idea of the previous thread i made last week. Cheers, mikey

No I don't believe you on this one. Not one single bit of it. Especially not when you were trying to buy bike bits just a couple of weeks ago.

It looks like a scam to me. Good on you for getting folk to give you money.

Ok, yes i was looking at buying bike parts a few weeks ago. Now i dont have the money and i need money ASAP to pay this months rent or im buggered. Which is why i am selling my bike to fund this. As noone is interested in my bike, i am asking people for ideas - Not money!!

Here is an idea - dont pay the rent. They will probably need a court order to evict you. In the mean time get some benefits sorted out and get a job.

So my landlord cant just kick me out? apparently, my friend told me this, that i cannot claim benefits because i was working a few weeks back. i have to wait 6 months before i can claim. i have no idea if this is true or not. Thanks for the advice.

You can claim if you got laid off / made redundant.

But surely if you got a paper round, as you were going to do a week ago, then that wouldn't have paid your rent. Would it?

You can claim straight away... I've been jobless for 3 months and 3 days now, and have had my £60.50 / week since then...

So you didnt have a job, and got a job on the side working as a labourer for a mate then he laid you off, so now youve not got a job, so where you signing before, how did you pay the rent before, like ive said go to jobcentre, and CAB, others have said the same, the landlordneeds to go to court to get you out ,but because youre young , he/she may make your life a pain, get proper advice, your council should have a bevefits advice dept so ask them.

Get signed on - even if there is a waiting period and there is in some cases IIRC your waiting time is from when you first sign on.

Nursing homes are always looking for staff - cleaners as well as carers - go ask round a few local ones - I bet you get a job by the third one you visit.

Smee - shut up. Plonker

If you really want benefit / tenancy rights advice, then mail me. happy to help, and i'll do it for free 😉

BTW, if you register for benefits monday, you could apply for a crisis loan immediately you would only be able to get enough money to cover for emergency's, but you would get money.
