Help!
The ratchet seems to have jammed on my son's car seat so the straps can be tenioned in, but can't release them. Which means he now can't fit in it!
Any suggestions? its got a few weeks left on the 24 month warranty, but don't really want the hassle of sending it back if it can be fixed...

We have the same seat and it seems to be a common issue.

You could try pushing the middle buckle strap all the way in and then all way back again. This is what engages the lock the on the strap and it doesn't always release properly.

cheers.
I found a kiddicare video on youtube that says you should push it all the way forward to release the cluthch, but that didn't work. Will get the missus onto the case trying to push it back...

Ditto on ours. Very common apparently. Got ours working again briefly by feeding the strap back through the ratchet.

Make sure the straps not twisted as that was the common problem i had with our kiddy seats.

So this problem does it happen alot? I have a tobi but we havn't had any problems, admittantly we havn't had to adjust it yet, and we got it fitter by mothercare......

is this one of those things i shouldn't tell the Mrs about because she will just worry all the time?

clubber - warranty is 24 months. When I phoned Maxi Cosi, they said they'd normally say take it back to the dealer it was bought from, but the very nice lady told me that Amazon are a pain to deal with, so she suggested sent it straight to them.
Really impressed with the service (so far)

sucklingmatt - its not unheard of if you trawl the 'tinterweb. Problems with the early models were due to getting bits of food stuck in the mechanism, and I suspect its probably something similar now, judging by the amount of raisins and breadsticks that fell out when I tipped it upside down to have a look!

It doesn't stick in a bad way. Eg it works to restrain the child when it jams just means you can't ease the belt off

that's exactly what ours has been doing, but it won't free up at all now.
