Playing some of his favourite tracks from the 80's punk/hardcore scene on Mary Anne-Hobbs show.

Bollocks. I'm in a music free zone at the minute.

Thanks for the heads up though, I'll listen later.

Had tickets to his spoken word show next week, just found out that his tour has been cancelled, due to Covid. Absolutely gutted, he's such a good live speaker!

Related: he was in the Dinosaur Jr documentary that was released recently, Freak Scene. Well worth a watch.

Didn't actually realise he was still doing those. I've got a couple of vinyl spoken word albums of his from about a million years ago.

Ah, nice one. I'll search that out ✌

Reminds me of the time a mate said he had tickets to see Eels free from work, we duly had a number of beers before we turned up.. only to find it was Mark E from Eels doing a spoken word tour and i had to sit there quite drunk and desperate for a wee until the interval..

Yeah, I've seen him 4-5 times over the years. The more recent stuff is to do with his National Geographic (and other) travels, rather than music tours, as he quit recording and touring 15ish years ago.

Would definitely recommend if you get the chance, but don't have too many drinks beforehand! Typically talks non-stop for 2-3 hours, good value for money 🤣

I've seen him a 3-4 times over the years as well, he's really entertaining. Have a couple of his books too, they're a good read. Was really looking forward to seeing him again, so gutted the tour has been cancelled.

Similar when I saw Jello Biafra in Brighton. Waaay too political(and American-centric obviously at that) for my tiny drunk mind😊

Thought it odd (and quite funny) that he sounded like Kermit in the first few words. ;o)

Was in the van so didn't get the best experience of them but the 2nd 2 of the choices were great - the first not so much but then that stuff isn't really my thing.

Saw the rollins band and beastie boys at the barras many years ago. I struggle a bit to remember gigs but I think it was really good
