Random question, but hey, that's what this forum's for right?

Levi jeans, if they say they are 34L (as opposed to 34R), what length are the legs? 34? 36?

Anyone comment on how Levis sizing come up compared to other brands?

Ta, Duane.

Mine just say W 30 L34, no idea about the L/R (unless it's right and left??). I think I'm really a 32 inside leg but the 34 look a bit better being bunched a bit at the ankle.
Would it be too difficult to try a pair on before buying, I assume you buying off the web.

Doesn't the L mean long? So the inside leg will be 34 inches instead of the more standard 32

Back OT, I reckon James_F has it..."standard length" tends to be 32, so I reckon they'll be 34. I thought Levis did better combinations than that though.

Yeah, both the Levis I have say W34 L34, but these ones I'm looking at online just say 34L, hence not really sure what that means :/

Is 32 the standard leg length for a 34waist?

No idea mate. But generally with jeans, 32 seems to be the standard length.

Ye-es, but I've not seen it on Levi's before - as pointed out by others, they normally have W/L figures.

Worth bearing in mind, btw, that sizing varies by country. In India and Thailand, Levi's are a whole lot skinnier than in Europe for a given size; in North America they don't seem to have particularly relaxed fits like 503, and they certainly don't have the lycra-blend styles like the 503 seasonal.

32 is ALWAYS the regular length for Levi's.

34 is marked as long.

With 4 pairs of 501, 2 pairs of 506, 2 pairs of 507 and a pair of 511 in the rotation at present I can assure you that this information is correct!

Same goes Dockers, also owned by Levi's.

Asked the question in a Levi shop this morning, now sporting some lovely 501s with 80s bunched ankles dd 😉 , and the assistant was confused saying the figures will always be W XX L XX for waist and leg. She agreed with me in that 34 is always going to be 34 and it's impossible to have 34L(ong).
They're not measured like suits where any given chest size can mate with different back and arm lengths.
The numbers you need are W XX and L XX.

Obviously, there are a plethora of waist and leg lengths available.

But, when you see 'R' or 'L' (and no number) as an option with regard to length (this will usually be on an online store) it refers to 32 inch length and 34 inch length respectively.

I've got it now, the online shows a pair of Levis with the sizes as 32R, 32L, 34R, 34L etc. I thought the reference was W34 L34L or W34 L34R, it all makes sense now. 😳
