Hmm.. the one on the right maybe, but the rest look like fairly normal size hands.

But don't mention it they are armed:
[img] [/img]

And unlike other women, they can probably shoot straight 😀

Until chromosone replacement takes place, this is thread should be entitled "The thing about men who want to become women"

And you try really hard not to stare, so much so that it looks like you are really trying hard not to stare and you actually don't look at the person at all, even though usually you would probably nod and smile (I do anyway, and I speak to people in the queue at the supermarket)

Yes, some trans-women have big hands. Some don't. Some have big feet. Some don't. Plus, women generally are getting bigger feet; mine are size 9 and it's a bit of a pain but not as bad as it used to be.

Not quite sure where I sit on the whole shooting thing. I can use a shotgun - does that count?

Oh, and the whole chromosome thing is a bit of a misnomer; there are a lot of so-called genetic girls that simply aren't but have no idea.

Rachel.

Guys,

Life can be challenging enough as a transsexual person, without reading STW and seeing comments like some here.

If the Internet existed 30 years ago, would you be making similar comments about black people, gay people?

Rachel.

Rachel; as long as they have someone else to poke fun and laugh at, they'll feel better about themselves, so I wouldn't let it worry you what they think.

Ah - it doesn't bother me that much; just interesting how certain populations are objectified, depending on how well they are understood.

You're right about the bellies, though - believe me! 😆

Rachel people still do make fun of black gay people, either as a sign of derision, or just for fun, when it turns into aggression or violence that is the problem.

Anyone having transgender realignment surgery is either very brave or a bit mixed up, usually very brave, to fullfill their wishes to live as a lady.

when it turns into aggression or violence that is the problem.

It is often a problem for people long before it even gets to aggression or violence. Someone might just not realise that their words are hurting someone, until it's too late, and then by that time the damage is done.

Yes, I think you do need a thick skin to brave an internet forum, but quite often I read stuff, and think 'can someone really be that much of an arse?' Poking fun, bullying, ganging up on people, taking the piss- it's just a sign of weakness, and is cowardly. Takes a bit more thought to rise beyond childish puerile shite.

Personally, I think it's great that Rachel feels confident enough to be open and honest on here. I sometimes shudder to think what some folk who might be from groups which are regularly on the receiving end of 'jokes' must think. I don't want to be lumped in with the hard of thinking. Some of it's just embarrassing.

Geuss what folks? People might be different to you. Crazy, eh? 🙄

Sorry but big hands and feet on a woman are a no no!

So your only problem with "men who become women" is that they have big hands and feet - apart from that you could fancy them ?

Good for you mate - I wish I could say I was that liberal. Unfortunately just the fact that she was once a geezer, would be a "no no" for me.....I just wouldn't be able to get it out of my head - I don't fancy geezers.

So apart from the big hands, what was the tranny in the queue at tescos like loddrik ........ a bit tasty ?

Fixed it for you
I agree amongst the bravest people I have ever met are transexuals. To live your life everday like that, knowing people will stare, telling your family , friends , perhaps even you kids. Genuinely brave people IMHO and worthy of respect.
This seems to be STW banter and Graham had the best joke so far.

Yeah but that's the thing- she's a woman now. What if you were never told? Could you not love the person themselves, for who they are, without some prejudice/fear coming up in your head?

I remember studying Gender at Uni; 'gender' being something that can be viewed as distinct and separate from sex; IE your 'sex' is what defines you as physically male or female, yet your 'gender' is what defines you as masculine or feminine. No-one is completely one or the other; most of us fall more on one side or the other, but there are people for whom the gender boundaries are less distinct, or who themselves have had the wrong gender forced upon them. Our society is very polarised in this sense, and there are very distinctly and clearly defined 'rules'. But if people were left to grow up according to what was best for them as an individual, I think we'd see a lot more blurring of the social boundaries; dress, behaviour, personality etc. I think a lot of people are ****ed up because they're prevented from being who they really are by a society that makes little or no provision for those who don't 'fit the pattern'.

It's all very complicated. Freud and others have plenty to say on the matter, I'm sure.

😕 Eh ? prejudice/fear ? .......it's got nothing to do with "prejudice" or "fear" ....... I don't fancy geezers - that's all.

And I couldn't just simply "forget" that she was once a geezer. I hope that's OK with you.

But I'm impressed with loddrik though......apart from the "big hands" issue, he seems cool with it.

Just out of interest; how many men on here looked at those pics of the Oriental ladies above and thought 'hmmm...'? I know I did. Why? Because their gender is clearly feminine, something I'm attracted to . The fact that they may in fact be male in terms of their sex is irrelevant here. It's their femininity that's the most obvious thing. They could quite easily be women. And then finding them attractive wouldn't be a problem, would it?

A mate of mine went to Thailand on holiday , and said he found some of the ladyboys more attractive than most 'real' women he'd seen. We are so conditioned by the media and society that we expect men and women to look a particular way, and get confused and even fearful if presented with something that differs from that norm.

Heh! I bet some of you are getting really uncomfortable now you've thought about it, aren't you?

Go with the flow! 😀

I thought it was funny, simple as that. In the same way that when I worked for Parcelforce years ago and the door was answered by the most butch looking chap you had ever seen, only he had full on womens clothes with 6 inch heels and full makeup. I thought it was hilarious and every man I mentioned it to did as well. Surprise surpise every woman who heard the story felt guilty laughing or felt sympathy. And I don't feel guilty finding it funny as it cheered up my day and still brings a smile to my face thinking about it. I didn't turn around and bounce on his head for being different so it makes no difference.

If your user name is a reference not only to your biking ability then it has to be one of the wittiest on this forum!

Now my problem is I have a slightly dark sense of humour... can we have an amnesty on intelligent transexual person jokes please? I'm biting my lip so hard it's almost bleeding?

[edit] they're not even intelligent, just STW staples that go on almost every thread [edit]

I was at a conference recently on the subject and the latest prevalence figures were discussed.

There are about 10000 people actively being treated for gender dysphoria and a rather amazing 1% of the adult population thought to at least have issues with their gender.

The largest Gender Identity Clinic in the UK, Charing Cross, also showed how the growth of new clients was increasing - it was rather dramatic...

It's the 21st century, you know. I mean, even my parents can cope with it!! 😆

Have a Google image search for 'Caroline Cossey'. I won't post pics on here because I'll just get banned (again), but essentially, Caroline was a Bond Girl who was born male. T'was a proper fuss, because she's very beautiful. I bet a good few men had sleepless nights about that one....

Well judging by the amount of tranny porn that's available, I reckon a lot more than 1% of the adult population are into trannies.......which is good news for trannies 8)

No you silly arse. What I'm saying is, if it looks like a duck and goes quack, it's safe to assume it's a duck, right? If it went 'oink', then you'd be right to be a tad confuddled. Especially if you'd already prepared the sauce d'orange...

Big black chap at work went all the way (I assume). From behind you thought you were looking at someone who was born a woman. Great walk, short skirts and good legs, large breast implants. Only the face and hands gave it away. Oh, and being 6 foot 2.

Hey, I've gone home with worse looking.

Yes, teagirl, there are several very different types of people dumped into the category "tranny"

I hate quoting wikipedia but it is not far off in this case - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Benjamin_Scale - there's a thing called the Harry Benjamin Scale that sets out what these types are, although it is old and the types these days are seen as less connected rather than a progression from one to another.

Transsexualism is thought to be connected with the development of the foetus in week 7 or 8 - where we all start as female and then a hormone is released to change half of us to male. Occasionally it is released into the brain a long while before the rest of the foetus. Something like that anyway...

I must admit I was terrified of going back out on the bike this year. What people would say and all that.

In reality, it has been pretty good. I've even just come back from a week in Morzine where I had absolutely no issues at all. Even the lifties were amazing...

Question for Ernie;

What if, right, you met and fell in love with a beautiful woman. Spent many years with her, chose to settle down and spend the rest of your life with her. Even got married. She was the loveliest person you'd ever met.

Then, one day, she hits you with the bombshell.

What you gonna do? Walk out on the person you were in love with, that you'd spent so much happy time with?

See, then it's surely down to that person, not some constructed myth going on in your head, or your continued insistence that you're heterosexual.

Would you walk out on the person you loved, over a 'technicality'? Deny yourself (and her) happiness? Spend the rest of your life bitter and angry and twisted?

Or just shrug yer shoulders, say 'ah well in't life strange', and just carry on being happy?

Where did I say that?

My own sexuality dictates that I am attracted to 'feminine' looking women. I don't have a particular 'type' as that's too limiting, but I suppose theres a spectrum of attractiveness, outside of which are people I don't find attractive. I suppose my own psyche and gender influence who falls inside or outside of that spectrum. This isn't limited to looks, but on a sexual level, I kind of know what I like. Now and then life throws up the odd surprise; women who I might not have considered attractive actually are. There's no point in having set values, as everyone's unique.

I do like a nice bottom however...

Why this underlying assumption that sex or gender are binary attributes?

In some cultures (such as some Native American and African tribes) they've long had the notion of multiple genders. I think it's only as we become more progressive both in terms of society and science that we're beginning to understand that for some people, it's a bit more complex than that. Like this guy.

But hell, I get grief for being a woman that likes mountain biking, videogames, comics and metal - I've flat out been told that I'm not 'a normal woman'. Much like a chap at work had the mickey taken out of him because he loved knitting. If people are still mocked because their hobbies don't fit into people's predefined gender categories, I can't begin to imagine how transgender people are treated on a day to day basis. :/

Why TF should a Human Being have to endure shit like that? Can you imagine how upset that must make someone, having to put up with that every ****ing day? And not getting any support from others, because they're too ****ing weak and cowardly to stand up to the bullying.

That's not on. I find that upsetting.

This thread may have continued in a fortunately reasonably light-hearted manner, but stuff like that is a reminder of why people really need to think beyond their own little bubbles, and consider others.

Times like this I'm really glad i live in a big ****ed up mad city like London. Opens your eyes and your mind.

Yes, I had a TS friend walk out of her job on Monday. She just couldn't deal with the trouble there any longer.

I'm so amazingly lucky I can't believe it: I work for a wonderful company who have been 100% supportive. We put a lot of effort into planning how we broke the news, though. It's all pretty freaky stuff for most people and I've come to understand that - not easy when you have been exposed to the idea of gender issues all your life.

Rachel.
