Iv been looking at these for a while, I was all set to get the 901 but now have been considering the 905. Is the 905 really worth the price difference?

I only really ride trails e.g llandegla, climach x, mbr. Is it worth me paying the extra for the 905 or would the 901 suffice??

The 905 won't let you ride any harder/faster trails, they have the same geometry/suspension etc. It'll let you ride them *slightly* faster maybe, but you could also use the extra £400 for 4 good weekends away, or some pimp riding gear?

I got the 905 right enough and love it, very capable, encourages all sorts of badness, hence the state of the rear rim...

Half a kilo lighter and a better fork as far as I can tell. Reckon the 901 would be a great bike and the 905 only a little bit better. If 500 quid is a lot of money I'd say get the 901. If it's loose change then get the 905.

Great comments. I currently have a 2008 rockhopper pro which has done me well. But these whytes seem pretty darn good, I reckon I will probably go with the 901 purely for the price.

I normally keep my bikes for a good few years so upgrades are always a possibility later on.

901 2011 currently pricing at £900 ish and the 2012 bout £1100. Doesn't looks a fat lot of difference between the two

If I can confirm the large will fit il take it following that link. Does anyone know how the whytes size up, I'm 6ft 2? I looked on whyte size chart and it seems really close between large and extra large

Can't help you with that unfortunately. I bought one of those direct from ATB earlier in the year though and I'm really pleased with it. Great bike & great value.
