I don't like the poploc remote on my new Rockshox Reba Team. How can I convert it to a leg top lever?

You have to change the whole nmotion control cartridge

No you don't.

You'll need some new bits. PeterPoddy's guide explains it best...think I have it; I'll email it to you

I've just been searching for a remote kit to convert my 29" Reba forks.
This was the nearest I could find, but no longer available.

Why don't you like it ?
Can we just swap bits ?
Where are you ? I'm in Worcestershire.

Use an old gear cable with the stopper on the end. Place it through the recess on your fork crown and run the free end of the cable end into your (blue?) adjuster. Set and nip up the compression at your desired level and forget about it.

What sort of lever do I need ?
How do I attach the cable to the blue knob ?

I did similar with my Reba's a month back. The new bits cost just short of £30 from TF Tuned, which seemed a lot for what they were. PP's guide, plus an wee bit of guidance from the good man himself sorted out the fix and I sold the remote on here for around £25, so a good result for me and a fork that does what I want it to do, when I want it to do it.

😆

BTW : I only changed it because the remote was sh$te. got stuck at the mere mention of mud....

Just did mine today, on a set of 2009 Reba Race - popped out the damper, uncliped the spring hooked around the peg in the damper, & nipped a small washer up, under the grub screw.
The poploc was hopeless - wouldn't even move a bit after being released, even after a good clean out.

While I was on with it I removed the 20mm spacer to make them 120mm travel. The initial part of travel is not as firm as before, does anyone know if I need to increase the oil volume (height) to compensate for the increased travel (increased air volume in the fork leg)?

I've sent it to you Graham...hope it's of use but it's for the removal of poploc and you sound like you want to add poploc. As you suggest in your earlier post, you might want to consider swapping with someone...try the classifieds as people seem to prefer having the leg mounted lock-out although personally I prefer the bar-mounted

Thanks nuke.
I'm a bit concerned about that spring though.
If the spring needs removing, or disconnecting, when removing the remote, does that mean I won't have that spring in there ?
It does look like doing a staright swap with someone would be the easiest solution.
I can't understand though why people would not want a remote lock out.
I've got Fox Terralogic on one bike, which I find the best.
I've got Pace with a remote lock out on another, which I find good.
I've got these non remote Rebas on the new 29er, which I find really inconvenient.
Why would anyone want to remove a remote lock out ?

Probably not and that's why I think swaps is best.

Some don't like the clutter on the bar, some think the poplocs get easily jammed when muddy. Can't understand why you wouldn't want it myself as I find it very useful but at least if people prefer the leg-mounted, it improves the chances of finding someone to do swaps with.

I'm still looking for someone to do a swap with.
Anyone ?
In the mean time, looking at other options, can someone clarify this for me please ?

This is just a lever to upgrade an existing remote to easily adjustable damping control. So it's no good to me as I have got the wrong Motion Control cartridge.

This is the full kit to convert a fork top adjuster to handlebar remote. This is the one I want. It just lacks the little blue knob, so if I want to adjust the damping, I have got to carefully position the lever in the right place.

Have I got that right ?

Because the Rock Shox remove lock-out on the whole is poor. see the other thread on sticking poploc. Don't waste your money!

while i appreciate its gonna vary between riders and forks......

i didnt even bother to fit my poplock remote on my revalations, i dont like handlebar clutter and i dont rate lockout.

i did a ride toying with the compression settings via a short direct cable link and the floodgate set to suit....... but soon realised that it works great if you leave it well alone, its a bit wallowy on climbs if im not careful, but what do i expect on a 6" fork?

anyone wanna buy a poplock switch and cable bnib?

see the other thread on sticking poploc

That'll be these two then.

http://www.singletrackworld.com/forum/topic/sticky-pushlock

Right, so you've put me off spending £60 - £100 (I'm still not sure exactly which one I need)on something that probably won't work properly.
I still want a remote lock out though.
I hate that bobbing from the front up hill. I've got a remote on my Pace forks and I'm constantly flicking the lever to suit the terrain. I want to be able to do the same on my Rock Shox.
I've got a Rohloff, so bar clutter on the left is not a problem.
Reading those threads, it sounds like either the cable is seizing, or the internal spring is not strong enough.

Can anyone recommend a small cheap bar mounted lever I could use with some sort of friction or ratchet locking device and I'll have a go at rigging up a more powerful external spring on the forks.

SOOBalias, or anyone else who's got a spare genuine poploc lever, I may be interested if it's cheap enough. Rearrange the following uk tiscali co aecmilitant . . @
I can't see how this http://www.wiggle.co.uk/p/cycle/7/RockShox_Poploc_Adjust_Remote_Kit/5360030700/ is worth £60...
when this http://www.wiggle.co.uk/p/cycle/7/Minoura_Remote_Handlebar_Shifter/5360018726/ only costs £9 though.
